UCLA Law School is relatively new compared to other top law schools. Established in 1949 in Los Angeles, it is Southern California's only public law school. Students of UCLA Law School can choose from a wide variety of degree programs, specialization areas, special programs, and clinics.

In terms of degree programs, UCLA Law School offers the Juris Doctor (JD), Master of Laws (LLM), Doctor of Juridical Science (SJD), as well as joint degree programs that allow students to receive a Juris Doctor and a master's degree in another field. Areas of specialization include Entertainment and Media, Public Interest, and Critical Race Studies. A degree specialization in Critical Race Studies is not offered by any other law school in the United States.

Clinics and special programs add on to the UCLA Law School experience. These include: Appellate Advocacy Clinic; Immigration Clinic; Volunteer Witness Program; Capital Punishment Clinic; Land Use, the Environment and Local Government; Tribal Legal Development Clinic.
